I n February, a client with alopecia came into my studio to discuss her brows. She had two young children and said her goal was to take them swimming during the summer without worrying about her eyebrows coming off in the pool. She expressed how much she worried about her brows when she worked out, broke a sweat on hot days, or even answered the front door when she was home without makeup on. It was a constant insecurity for her that chipped away at her self- esteem. However, after her appointment with me, she no longer had to worry about her brows; and that insecurity, along with all the times it held her back, was gone. Many of us became estheticians because we have a passion for helping people feel better about themselves and easing some of their insecurities. Most people would agree that our society plants seeds from a young age that foster confidence issues stemming from unrealistic societal pressures. But imagine being able to erase one of those insecurities for your clients in just a few hours—that's the power of permanent makeup and paramedical tattooing. Permanent makeup has been around for decades, but its popularity has grown substantially during the past several years. Permanent makeup is typically thought of as eyebrow, eyeliner, and lip tattooing. However, there are many different styles and techniques for each type of service. Cheek blushing and eye shadowing techniques are also gaining popularity. A beginner's guide to permanent makeup and paramedical tattooing by Marjorie Erickson Inked Protection. Education. Connection. There's an app for that at ascpskincare.com/app 79
