Protection. Education. Connection. There's an app for that at ascpskincare.com/app 47 BEYOND TREATMENT Unstuck and Thriving 4 steps the solo esthetician can take to reignite their business by Heidi Holley RUNNING YOUR OWN ESTHETICS BUSINESS is amazing, but after a few years, it's totally normal to hit a plateau. With 14 years of being a service provider and over 23 years in the industry, I've been through the same challenges and have learned how to push past them to keep growing. Maybe you're having a tough time keeping clients, growing beyond your initial foundation, or feeling a little blah compared to when you fi rst went solo. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone! The good news? There are four simple, actionable steps that can help you feel inspired and get your business blooming again. STEP 1: RECONNECT WITH YOUR WHY Remember that spark you had when you fi rst decided to go solo? That excitement about building something of your own? Over time, the daily grind can dim that light, but it's still there. Take a few minutes to think about what made you fall in love with the esthetics industry in the fi rst place. Was it helping people feel more confi dent in their skin? Was it creating a peaceful space for self-care? No matter what you answer, this is your "why." Write down your why and stick it somewhere you'll see every day. It's amazing how grounding yourself in that initial passion can reignite your fi re. STEP 2: COLLABORATE WITH OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS One of the easiest (and most fun) ways to grow your esthetics business is through collaboration. This doesn't necessarily mean with other estheticians. Connect with other solo service providers outside skin care—hairstylists, massage therapists, nail techs— and create opportunities to support each other. Host a joint self-care event, off er referral discounts, or create bundle packages that give clients a taste of each business. This can not only bring in new clients, but it can also build a stronger local network and makes business feel a little less, well, solo. GETTY IMAGES
