Protection. Education. Connection. There's an app for that at ascpskincare.com/app 13
H
ere at Associated Skin
Care Professionals (ASCP),
the word advocacy is very
important. We believe in empowering
members to move the esthetics industry in a safe
and prosperous direction. As ASCP Government
Relations Director Laura Puryear says in her
feature on page 68, "Your voice matters! You are
subject-matter experts—you know which parts of
the industry should be protected and which should
progress." You have the power to use your voice to
enact change and fi ght for the career you love so
much. But it doesn't stop there; your voice matters
all day, every day: when you're promoting your
business on social media, when you're interacting
with your clients, and when you're advocating for
your favorite brands and products. You have the
ability to make this industry bigger and better, and
the brands and products you love are elevated
every time you use something from your backbar.
Inside this issue of ASCP Skin
Deep, read about the many ways
you advocate for esthetics. First, you
spoke up and voted for your favorites in
the 9
th
annual ASCP Skin Deep Readers' Choice
Awards. We have the list of winners on page 56.
Then, read the aforementioned feature about the
basics of legislative advocacy and start contacting
your o cials (page 68). Finally, read more about
what goes into creating professional-grade products
so you can share this knowledge with your clients
and guide them in making wise purchases (page 76).
You are a change maker and you can use that
superpower to make this industry even better.
Keep speaking up. You never know who's listening.
