It's important to fi nd the balance between being informative during a service and allowing the client to embrace the time to relax. Strive to balance the session of healing and allot time for it to also be an educational opportunity. Clients are naturally curious and seek to understand the intricacies of their skin. The goal is to provide genuine answers, off ering sound advice backed by scientifi c facts for any recommended products or home-care practices. Always strive to avoid embellishment or exaggeration of results. It's essential to have a sharp mind and keep up-to- date with the latest scientifi c advancements, and it's imperative to maintain the relevance of your advice and expertise. Try the following tips to nurture an esthetics-sharp mind and promote brain health. • Increase fish in your diet (the omega-3 in fish is known to support brain health and development). • Supplement your diet with multivitamins, per your doctor's guidance. • Prioritize ample rest and rejuvenation, allowing your mind to slow down and relax. • Dedicate time to a fulfilling hobby and self-care. • Embark on a journey of continuous learning; add a new skill. • Enrich your commute with stimulating podcasts. • Immerse yourself daily with an article from an insightful trade publication (like ASCP Skin Deep, of course). THE SPIRIT The spirit represents the essence of where emotions and intuition converge within the body and mind, creating a powerful energy for overall well- being. Referred to as qi in traditional Chinese medicine, it symbolizes breath, vital force, and air. This life force of energy fl ows throughout the body, providing essential nourishment. Wearing gloves during a facial treatment will not hinder or disrupt this energetic connection. Like caring for your body and mind, embrace the importance of nourishing and nurturing your spirit. Be mindful of the energy you project; clients will perceive any negativity. Clients are sensitive to emotions such as sadness, fear, and anger, and these can be misunderstood as a lack of confi dence or honesty, possibly impacting your success. I once had an amazing facial in Palm Beach, Florida. However, afterward, I felt a sudden wave of sadness. Upon returning home, the esthetician left me a voice message sharing her personal struggles and how my visit had unexpectedly uplifted her. It dawned on me that there had been an exchange of energy between us—her spiritual baggage left the spa with me. While my skin was glowing, my spirit had been aff ected. This experience taught me the importance of protecting our spirits from negative energy and not releasing it onto others. Following are some tips to keep your spirit recharged and connected. • Release your worries; worrying is an energy vampire. • Protect and prioritize your peace. • Stay away from gossip and drama. • Cherish and cultivate meaningful friendships. • Embrace meditation. • Visualize beautiful, healing colors cascading over you to remove negative energy. • Try carrying crystals and stones. They are believed to boost the atmosphere and are used as a healing aid; selenite is a good stone to cleanse negative energy and enhance inner resilience. • Live a life of gratitude. • Take a break from cell phones, computers, and TV. • Practice breathwork. • Do things that make you happy; be joyful. The connection between the body, mind, and spirit is not separate. By nurturing each aspect, we achieve balance and become a happy, healed, healthy, and complete practitioner. Our essence becomes essential to our esthetics services, spas, and clients.
