Product sampling is a technique that involves allowing your client to "try before they buy." You can use this technique with new product launches. Be sure to keep track of which clients receive samples, follow up with them, and extend an opportunity to purchase a full-size product for a limited-time, discounted price. Customize Recommendations. Suggesting customized solutions to a client shows them you are knowledgeable and care about their needs. It also helps the customer feel more at ease when spending more money because you are recommending products and services their skin really needs versus making them feel like they are being sold something they don't want. Incentivize Staff. Incentivizing your employees to implement the aforementioned practices will help increase the average ticket and increase your bottom line. You might incentivize them with another reward, such as a gift card for the person who hits sales goals or a catered party for collectively hitting goals. Train your staff to be empathetic and not pushy when making sales—they should care about what they are selling and who they are selling to. Build Trust. Gaining a client's trust at the beginning will make using these techniques to increase your average ticket a lot easier. During the initial consultation, speak with your client about their needs and really listen to them. Remember to always be authentic. Building a true relationship with your client will make them want to come back for more and sing your praises to everyone they know.
