With many benefits—namely anti-inflammatory properties and support for the skin barrier—it can be found in products indicated for nearly every skin condition. Though niacinamide isn't a new ingredient, it's return to center stage as an effective skin-friendly compound can be attributed to existing and ongoing research on skin aging, hyperpigmentation, acne, psoriasis, pruritus (itchy skin), dermatitis, epidermal melasma, and other complex skin issues. 1 Niacinamide is a water-soluble form of vitamin B3 with a rich history rooted in scientific exploration and dermatological research.
