I have been making
magazines for 18 years.
In that time, I have met,
interviewed, and written
about some truly amazing
people. It's really the best
part of this job.
Among a l l t he fascinating
inter views I've done, t here are a
few people t hat stay wit h me. The
ones who, t hough I may never meet
again, wi l l a lways remain in my
memor y. In t his issue, you get to
meet one of t hese people: ASCP's
2019 Esty of the Year Pamela
Bolado.
Warm, k ind, and beautif ul
on t he inside and out, Pamela's
stor y of her est hetics journey blew
us away—f rom overcoming t he
self-esteem issues t hat came wit h
being born wit h a uni latera l clef t
lip to her extensive est hetics training gained in severa l
countries around t he world. She is t he def inition of an
est hetician: smar t, caring, and bold in her pursuit of
continuing education. She has blazed her own pat h, and
we are honored to k now her. Read her stor y, star ting on
page 50.
Pamela is our f irst Est y of t he Year, and because of t he
many wonderf ul submissions we received (more t han
100!), I'm a lready excited about t he next one. I am so
gratef ul to ever yone who submit ted t heir stories; reading
t hem was a joy, and t hey once again remind me how
amazing our members are.
Creating t his award brought anot her exciting f irst
for A SCP Skin Deep—showcasing a member on t he
cover! Pamela was admit ted ly a bit ner vous, but she did
it—beautif ul ly. I'm so proud of Pamela, our team, and
ever yone who was involved in ma k ing t his project happen.
