It is money well spent, because your logo will be on everything. • Ensure your salon menu is well written and free of typos, then have your graphic designer create a simple brochure with a classic, easy-to-read font; keep it simple and direct for maximum impact. Today's consumer is savvy and results-oriented; many want to know all they can about the services and products you offer, and the solutions you can provide. • Business cards, a staple in the business world, are a great way to conduct face-to-face marketing everywhere you go; it's like distributing your own pocket-size billboards. Have a stack with you at all times. • Postcards are an inexpensive way to introduce yourself and your business to a geographical area. Make sure your postcard has a special offer that requires the recipient to bring it into your place of business to redeem. • Pens, magnets, water bottles, and T-shirts may seem old school, but if the first thing a person sees when they write a note or open their refrigerator is your name and number, the repetition will eventually pay off. Get involved. Volunteer, get elected to a board, and let your voice be heard. This will help you continue to build your brand by getting your name out there and will give you experience doing committee work. It's a thrilling experience to chair a committee composed of extremely busy professionals, who, like you, are unpaid volunteers. So many strong voices can get a bit chaotic, but the reward is getting everyone to work together on a common project with tight deadlines, all while working full-time jobs or running businesses.
