Before spending that money, call a few local businesses— those that attract a similar clientele but are not your competition—and try some old-fashioned bartering. Let business owners and managers know this is a unique opportunity to gain community exposure and you are excited to allow them to set up a table to share their wares, hand out their cards and brochures if they are willing to contribute to your event, or serve their cuisine to your guests. Community support is a powerful way to stay on budget and create the ultimate guest experience. A trip to the dollar store—along with a little creativity (or a Pinterest search for party theme and decorating ideas)—will help you select basic items such as paper plates and napkins, vases and other decorative items, balloons, gift bags, and name tags. Finally, be sure to have plenty of inventory stocked in advance to cover any services you'll perform, retail you hope to sell, and gifts you want to give. Call your vendors and see what ideas they have and what support they might offer. STEP 4: CHOOSE YOUR OFFERINGS For the most profitable event, remember that a confused mind says no. Make it easy for guests to say yes by featuring just a few product lines and two or three services—think simple, streamlined, and focused. The best way to choose is to offer what you love to do. If facials light your skin care soul on fire, focus on facials.
