Peace of mind for your property. Add Business Personal Property Insurance at ascpskincare.com 73 I am lucky enough to frequent this spa because I have family in Vienna. Now I see Fiona regularly because she knows how to care for my skin. Each time I visit, I book with her so I can have treatments that make me feel and look good. When I look in the mirror after a facial with her I think, "Wow, I look hydrated, rested, and refreshed." ADAPTING TO MY NEW NORMAL As estheticians, we know how important it is to move our bodies. Our jobs are so physical, and we often stand in awkward positions or forget to sit on our stools. Trading in marathons and headstands for yoga nidra, hiking, walking, and swimming has been a journey for me. After my diagnoses, I needed to find a new way back to movement. I started swimming with a coach so I could learn how to safely increase my neck's range of motion within my limits, building up the proper strokes to strengthen my head and neck. Taking walks and hiking are two easy things that make me smile. The days I do restorative yoga after a full day of clients, I feel like a champ. Practices like yoga nidra bring me to a place where I lose my sense of reality for a short period and provide a space where I'm not in pain. Just because I can't do the things I used to do before doesn't mean I lost that version of myself. I'm just transforming into who I need to be. HOW TO CREATE AN INCLUSIVE TREATMENT SPACE Life with my conditions is tough, but my passion for my work crushes the debilitating feelings I experience. I don't want pity—in fact, I want the opposite. I'm strong, resilient, and very good at what I do. I simply want fellow estheticians to know that someone with a rare condition like mine could show up on your schedule, and there are simple modifications you can make for them. Every practitioner encounters clients who need adjustments to feel safe and comfortable in the treatment space. It's especially important for us as estheticians to educate ourselves on nerve pathways and invisible conditions that directly affect sensations on the face and transform how you approach touch. Being prepared makes all the difference. It's important for us as estheticians to educate ourselves on nerve pathways and invisible conditions that directly affect sensations on the face and transform how you approach touch.
