80 ASCP Skin Deep Autumn 2026 Giving Back Checklist Philanthropic work can strengthen your business identity and contribute to client loyalty when you're recognized for going above and beyond what's expected from an esthetics business. Take a page out of Éminence Organic Skin Care's book and enact change in your community by following these tips. • Find your inspiration—Look around your business and your life and think about what excites you most. Are you an animal lover passionate about adoption? Would you like to spend your time volunteering at local elementary schools encouraging literacy? Do you love being outdoors and preserving the natural world around you? Your passions will guide you in deciding what you want to do. • Decide how to give back—You can give back in more ways than one. Donating a percentage of your profits is a great way to start, but you could also have your staff or coworkers volunteer their time or create a scholarship program for clients in need. • Start the work—Don't overthink it. When inspiration strikes, just start. You'll undoubtedly run into bumps along the way, but the hardest part is getting started. Start small and expand from there. • Consider partnerships—Just as Éminence Organic Skin Care partners with local organizations, consider partnering with local businesses, nonprofits, or organizations that can broaden your impact through their resources and introduce more faces to your philanthropic goals. • Lean into growing pains—As you develop your version of philanthropy, your vision and goals may change. That's OK. Plan to adjust and remember to incorporate feedback from clients, the community, and staff. • File the paperwork—When you're ready, look into your state's requirements for registering as a nonprofit and/or classifying it as a 501(c)(3). You have to incorporate on the state level before you can file for federal tax-exempt status. While you can operate both your esthetics business and philanthropic work, you'll need to keep their identities separate, meaning separate bank accounts and operating expenses to avoid legal and tax penalties—consult a tax professional for guidance.
