Protection. Education. Connection. There's an app for that at ascpskincare.com/app 61 so they can just unapologetically show up as that—whether they receive hate or support. SD: What hate do you receive? BM: People try to tear down our products. And just a lot with me sharing education—especially a lot of the free stuff that I'm putting out. People don't agree with that; there are a lot of really high standards they place on me that they don't place on themselves. And I think some people can be really threatened by [others] just showing up with a "what you see is what you get" [approach]. One of the biggest compliments I love receiving when we go to trade shows is, "Oh, wow, you are actually really nice." What would you expect? I don't have one character I play on social media and then another in real life. SD: Exactly! How would being rude to other people in the industry lift you higher? BM: It doesn't. My business coach calls it karmic debt, and I'm not trying to add up any karmic debt. I really believe that anything you put out comes back tenfold—whether it's good or bad—and you don't know when that's going to come back. SD: What inspired you to start Lash and Wax OC? BM: We were the first-to-market vinyl wax pad. I hated the baby blue background of all my waxing videos. We posted it on my Instagram and people were saying, "I want one! Do you have other colors?" That's when I was like, alright, there's something here—other people have this problem too. Fast- forward to now, and it's our main source of income. "TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THAT FIRE IN YOUR BELLY— OR ELSE IT'S GOING TO EAT YOU ALIVE." for helping other women achieve their goals. She would be such a great person to have in my corner when it comes to where I am now. I'm leading a team, and it would just be nice to have her support. I definitely feel like I'm carrying on the legacy she left, and I really work by a lot of the principles she taught me. SD: As you advanced in your career, you started getting into education. What do you find rewarding about education? BM: I love seeing those light-bulb moments for people. I love seeing them be proud and celebrate themselves. A lot of times, we hold back from being proud of ourselves. I like teaching people to raise the bar a little bit higher and pass on what my grandma did for me. We don't need to be stuck in a box, and you can truly have anything. This life has so much to offer, but you have to be willing [to work for it]. Also, it takes a lot to stand out. I get a lot of hate, but I can take it. I think people developing thicker skin and really knowing who they are [is important],
