54 ASCP Skin Deep March/April 2021 to focus on skin care and oŒer results-based treatments; I wanted to specialize in acne. I love my acne program because it's the most rewarding part of my career. And I always knew I wanted to work for myself. I just didn't think it would happen so early in my career! How have you been able to stay strong and keep your business going (and growing) through the pandemic? I'm still growing my business, so I really had to keep a positive mindset. The global pandemic didn't help that challenge, but luckily, I have some amazing, loyal clients who were waiting for me to open back up. Do you have tips you can share with others trying to market their business post-COVID? First, I think it's important for clients to know you are taking proper precautions with sanitizing and disinfecting. Then, I think the best advice I can give is to make each client's experience exceptional—by doing all the things we did pre-COVID. Show clients you appreciate them choosing your business each and every time they come to you. Take notes so you remember little details about their life. And little touches, like a follow- up call or text after a treatment, can go a long way. What adjustments have you made to keep your spa open? I see fewer clients a day than I did before. I need extra time between clients to properly sanitize and disinfect the spa. I also fuel my creativity and passion more than ever. And I get to have a career I never knew I always wanted, which continually motivates me. What advice do you have for esties who want to go out on their own? I think it's important to have some experience under your belt. People can still be successful going out on their own right after school, but I feel like my experience really gave me an understanding of how I would do things—and exactly what I wanted to oŒer to my clients. How do you see 2021 going? I can't wait to see what it brings. I'm excited about the future, and I am hopeful that it'll be my best year yet!
