Begin by getting plenty of sleep. In the morning, make good food choices. This way your system has plenty of energizing fuel—without making you feel heavy, lethargic, or bloated. Drink plenty of water to avoid the headaches, fatigue, and dizziness that dehydration can cause. TRY A LITTLE TAI CHI An exercise routine can get you focused and charged for the day ahead. Tai chi is a form of exercise that nourishes not only the body but also the mind and soul. Using slow, gentle movements, tai chi reduces stress and improves mood, stamina, agility, and flexibility. 2 It can be performed anywhere with no special equipment, making it a perfect way to prime yourself before a treatment to ensure maximum focus and stability. STRETCH YOUR BOUNDARIES Stretching is another great low-impact exercise that can be performed anywhere. Most athletes use stretching as a method of warming up before a sporting event, but it's also a great way to prime your body before any physical activity. By improving posture, relieving back pain, and increasing blood flow and range of motion, a short session of stretching can give you the fluidity you need to take care of clients while remaining free from soreness or stiffness. 3 TAKE 60 SECONDS OF SERENITY The benefits of meditation are well known; among other things, it reduces anxiety, enhances self-awareness, and promotes good mental health. While some practitioners devote an hour or more to each session, even taking a single minute to meditate using any of the myriad meditation apps available (many are free) can refresh your spirit and leave you grounded, focused, and ready to concentrate on your client's needs. ENHANCE YOUR ATTITUDE WITH GRATITUDE Science has proven that feeling grateful does wonders for both your physical and mental health. 4 As you prepare to perform a treatment on a client, remind yourself that this person has given you their business and put their faith and trust in you during a very stressful time. By appreciating each individual client for their trust, you'll be well-seated to perform the calming, beneficial treatments that inspire your clients to appreciate you as well. 1 2 3 4 5 Danil Nevsky/Stocksy
