74 november/december 2018 added nervous sweating, dry mouth, and gastrointestinal tract disorders. These are the results of gene expression. Stress also enhances inflammation and endocrine imbalances, depletes the skin's antimicrobial barrier that protects against infection, reactivates skin disorders like eczema, stimulates acne, and intensifies allergy symptoms— also the results of gene expression. These symptoms, as well as the many other symptoms associated with stress, are the same in CSAS, which is also associated with sleeplessness, obesity, asthma, poor wound healing, hormonal imbalance, etc. In CSAS, symptoms of isolation, anxiety, sedentary lifestyle, and depression overlap and enhance each other. New research shows they also work together to influence gene expression that accelerates aging. Knowing this, treatment of CSAS is all-encompassing, addressing each symptom even if a symptom is not present. In this case, treatment is preventive, as it keeps gene expression appropriately turned on for wellness and turned down or off to keep damage at a minimum. In essence, preventive therapies work genetically to stop symptoms or the increase of CSAS and subsequent aging.
