Adding
beeswax to the
formulation is
what allows hard
wax to "shrink-
wrap" around
the hair and
set up to be
removed without
using a strip.
Rosin (a.k.a. Resin,
Colophony, Gum Base)
Used in both strip and hard wax
formulations, rosin is sourced from
trees (primarily pine trees), and is
what gives the wax its stickiness. In
its natural form, rosin can vary in
color from light to dark, in the hues of
yellows to browns. Color may be added
to the wax to change the appearance
and make it more pleasing to the eye.
Rosin is a versatile ingredient,
and it can be found, in one form or
another, in everything from musical
instruments and household cleaning
products to food and beauty products.
Beeswax
Beeswax is the most commonly used wax
ingredient; it's what makes the product
work the way it does. Adding beeswax to
the formulation is what allows hard wax
to "shrink-wrap" around the hair and set
up to be removed without using a strip.
