Simply the Best
As the editor of a skin care
magazine, I receive an
overwhelming amount of
information about professional
products and devices:
announcements of new
introductions, samples to try, and
emails explaining why a certain
ingredient is the "next big thing."
I am not an esthetician, so when I hear
about all these new and exciting concoctions,
I have to do my research and ask the
professionals around me to help decipher
which ones are important and promising, and
which appear to be gimmicky or seem a bit
too good to be true. This sorting and vetting
of information is an ongoing process, because
I only want to share the best with you.
About this time last year, as the ASCP
Skin Deep team was brainstorming what
we wanted to do for 2017, we wondered
what would happen if we turned the tables
and learned what you, the true professionals who work with these products and
devices every day, felt were the best and most eff ective tools of your trade. And, thus,
the 1st Annual Readers' Choice Awards was born.
We created a survey, sent it out, and watched excitedly as the responses poured in.
Your choices both delighted and surprised me: I was delighted to see that many of the
products previously highlighted in these pages (and a few I use and love myself) were
also at the top of your list. And I was surprised to discover, through your praise, quite
a few manufacturers I had not heard of and am now ready to learn more about. Your
votes have contributed to my continuing education about this wonderful industry.
This issue celebrates the winners you selected (starting on page 54). To each and
every one of you who took the time to vote and share your knowledge, I thank you from
the bottom of my heart. We absolutely could not have produced this issue without you!
