Make Your Future

Shakespeare.
Romantic and poetic,
yes, but practical, too.
We all have the power
to control and shape
our own future.
A new year is
always the time we look
forward with a mind-
set of a clean slate—we
need to create a plan, maybe make a few resolutions, and try to
answer the question: What do I want to accomplish this year?
Here at ASCP Skin Deep, 2016 was a wonderful year. Our
redesigned magazine earned a few awards, which is always fun
and exciting, but it's the lovely feedback we receive from our
readers that keeps us energized every day. Your kind words and
encouragement always mean more to us than any award.
The excitement will continue in 2017, as we celebrate the
10-year anniversary of Associated Skin Care Professionals.
What started as a sort of "add-on" for members of Associated
Bodywork & Massage Professionals who were also
licensed estheticians has certainly grown into its own,
with more than 18,000 members across the country.
Stay tuned, as we'll celebrate all year! But of course, it's not
the association we'll be celebrating ... it will be you, our members
and business partners who support us every day, in every way.

FROM THE EDITOR
When we first
launched ASCP
in 2007 as a
sister association
of Associated
Bodywork
& Massage
Professionals,
we knew there
was a need for
estheticians to have
a place to go for
answers, support,
and community.
What we didn't know back then was how much each
member would help shape the direction we took. With
each resource we've created and every trade show discount
negotiated, one thing has always been in the front of our
minds—our members are our number-one priority.
It has been an honor to serve as the president of an association
whose values and principles are the foundation of its success.
I've enjoyed watching many of you begin fruitful careers, and
I've cherished hearing seasoned skin care veterans share how
we have helped them achieve the career they always dreamed
of. This 10-year celebration is just as much yours as it is ours.
This year, we celebrate the members, the industry leaders,
the association, and the fantastic staff at ASCP who make this
association such a powerful body of skin care professionals who
are continually raising the bar on this incredible profession.
