Upcoming Awards and Scholarships The National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors, and Associations (NCEA) has two opportunities available for esthetics students and teachers. August 31 is the deadline for nominations for the first annual Gerson Award for Excellence in Esthetic Education. Nominees must be currently employed as an esthetics instructor. The prize, an iPad and iTunes card valued at $600, will be presented on October 27 by Joel Gerson, whose 1977 Standard Textbook for Professional Estheticians paved the way for state regulatory boards and licensing of estheticians. September 1 is the next deadline for esthetics students to apply for one of NCEA's quarterly scholarships. Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1 each year. The $1,000 scholarships are open to students who are midway through an esthetics-only training program and are maintaining at least an 80 percent grade point average and 80 percent attendance.
