H How long has it been since you evaluated and updated your menu of services? If it's been more than six months, you may be ready for an update. Service menus usually start strong with the basics, but fall off track when new and different services are added without a strategic game plan. When your goal is to create a menu that promotes your most profi table services and targets the needs of your guests today, a makeover is always worth the time and effort. The following tips will transform your menu into an updated tool that promotes what you do best as a skin care specialist. Revisiting your menu options with an eye toward profi tability can help you target and market your best opportunities for success. 1. Be Clear About Your Brand Your menu should be a refl ection of your business brand. What are the unique skills, knowledge, and abilities you bring to your business? Are you a specialist or a generalist? Do you target all age groups or focus on a specifi c skin concern such as acne? One way to clarify this is to develop a "By and For Statement." An example would be: "Bliss Skincare is an organic skin care studio staffed by licensed professionals who offer the latest treatments for men and women seeking skin health and wellness." Be clear on what you are and to whom you are targeting your services. 2. Focus on the Core Services It all begins with the numbers. Use your spa software to review your last three to six months of services. Which are the most requested? Popularity is one thing, but profi tability is more important. Let's consider these aspects as two sides of the same coin. If you are like most spas, solo providers, or skin care studios, you will see a pattern—the same services are requested again and again. Stop and make a list of the top fi ve services. The fl ip side of this coin is profi tability. There is an old saying that 80 percent of your income comes from Your top- se ing services should also be your most profi table. Create your free business website! www.ascpskincare.com 21
