Blend the ingredients together. Wrap the cleansed face with a warm, steamed towel for a few minutes, then apply the mixture as a mask. Leave it on for 15–20 minutes. This mask smells divine and many people feel tempted to taste it! Remind clients not to eat it—but if they disobey, it won't do them any harm. CUCUMBER EYE PAD WITH A LAVENDER SURPRISE ¼ fresh cucumber 1 drop of lavender essential oil Slice the cucumber thinly, place in a small bowl of fresh spring water, and refrigerate for 10 minutes. You can add ice cubes to chill it faster. Add a drop of lavender essential oil and let the bowl rest on the counter a few minutes while the essential oil infuses into the cucumber. Place slices on the closed eyelids to reduce puffi ness or to relieve eyes that are red and itchy from seasonal allergies. This cool and aromatic treat is a good way to end a facial. What Your Clients Love Using fresh ingredients makes clients feel special. They enjoy the aroma, the natural feeling, and being able to see (and understand) what you are putting on their face. While you don't want to go low- tech all the time, as a seasonal treat, your spa guests will appreciate and embrace these treatments. Get more ideas by looking at what local fl avors are popular in your area at this time of year. Ask clients what they love and you will always be able to offer a variety of fresh, delightful choices. It is fabulous when applied on dry and menopausal skin, and contains calcium, iron, protein, and vitamins A and C. Coconut water (the juice inside an unripe coconut) is all the rage, but it can be expensive. Make a refreshing substitute by adding 2 teaspoons of canned light coconut milk to one pitcher of fresh water with plenty of ice cubes. At my spa, we serve it with freshly chopped coconut on a serving tray. Serving something like this truly enhances the experience— clients feel like they have escaped to a tropical island for a day. Safety First! Remember natural isn't always gentle, and even the safest ingredient may prompt an allergic reaction. Always ask the client if she has any allergies. You can also do a patch test on a small area of skin to make sure there is no adverse reaction. When using a homemade recipe in your skin care services, pay extra attention to hygiene. Use products the same day you make them and discard any leftovers—don't store them to use later.
