Don't be surprised to see more states follow suit with esthetics education throughout 2025. If states have fewer than 600 hours required for esthetics students, there is a chance we will see them raise those hours. Your Recognition and Voice We expect that esthetics industry recognition and board representation will continue to blossom in 2025, and we couldn't be more excited. We know how important it is for estheticians' voices to be heard on cosmetology boards, and we are thrilled to see more states providing a platform for the esthetics industry. As always, ASCP will keep you posted on any vacancies to your state board to make sure those seats are filled with qualified skin care professionals as soon as possible. Serving on a board is one of the best ways you can advocate for your profession and be of service to your state and industry. If there is an opening for an esthetician on your state board, we encourage you to apply. Have questions for the ASCP government relations team? Email gr@ascpskincare.com. Laura Puryear ASCP Government Relations Director ASCP ADVOCACY A Compact in the Making And last, but certainly not the least of our predictions: Expect to see the beginning stages of an esthetics compact, which would allow estheticians to practice across state lines. It's still early, but a compact is on its way! I spent some time in Washington, D.C., in October with industry experts dotting the i's and crossing the t's on the compact language we hope to share with state legislators in early 2026. We'll start setting the stage for that this year, so keep an eye out for updates. We will need your support to make this compact a reality. JUST THE BEGINNING These topics are only the tip of the iceberg for what you can expect to see in 2025. Make sure you're checking your email for our government relations updates as the legislative session ramps up. We look forward to continuing to advocate for the protection and advancement of the esthetics industry.
