80 ASCP Skin Deep Spring 2023 hits, you rst need to be aware of the signs that burnout is near. Taking the time tocheck inhonestly with yourself is the most important step. Full- edged burnout doesn't always start with panic attacks; often it starts with small changes in your mood, attitude, and day-to-day routines. The best thing you can do is learn to identify your warning signs. Olivia Winter, author of Fixing Burnout,compiled a list of some telltale signs to use as a guide. Common Signs of Burnout Physical symptoms include gastrointestinal problems, poor immune function (getting sick more often), headaches, stomachaches, and appetite or sleeping changes. These symptoms alone can knock you o your game and impact your business. Along with the physical signs, burnout also has a deep impact on your mental and emotional state. Winter also lists common signs of mental burnout—concentration issues, depressed mood, feeling worthless, loss of interest in personal pleasures, irritability, and isolation. Once a day, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and check in with yourself. Ask yourself if you notice any of these physical or psychological warning signs. If you do, how can you ease your stress, care for yourself better, and make your schedule a little less demanding? Are you eating a balanced diet of whole, nutritional foods? Are you moving your body often? Are you treating your brain right? You deserve to feel your best. If you're not caring for your overall well-being, you'll be on a downward spiral headed for burnout, whether you can feel it or not. King, P.
