66 ASCP Skin Deep Spring 2023 takes an hour to remove a quarter-sized tattoo, it takes an hour to remove it. SD: You wear many hats: esthetician, business owner, philanthropist, educator. What is your favorite hat to wear? SAS: I think I'm going to be honest and say that the business owner hat is not my favorite. And the reason is that being a small business owner, especially in the current economy and after the pandemic, is [stressful]. But being an esthetician, being very much centered in my volunteerism and presenting to and educating others, that's where my heart is. SD: Much of your journey is about being selfless. Who do you have to thank for becoming a selfless person? SAS: My husband and business partner, Adam, has been a constant in my life since I was 15 years old. I think we make a pretty good team. We keep each other centered. And even when I want to give up, he's in my corner telling me, "Get up. We got this. We're going to fight it." I hope I do the same thing for him, you know? SD: How does it feel to be chosen as this year's ASCP Esty of the Year? SAS: I'm completely honored. I feel a deep sense of accomplishment when I'm able to guide and educate my clients toward the results they're seeking, but it's a whole other honor to be acknowledged by peers—it offers a whole other level of validation. SD: What do you have on the horizon, especially with your new studio space? " Life isn't necearily wh@ happens to us; 's how we respond to and how we can make oer people's journeys le traum@ic and a lile b easier to heal from.
