A. Several things infl uenced me launching the brand. I am a bit of a crunchie California hippie chick and have always supported organics. Yet, because of myths and beliefs I had about organic skin care products being ineff ective, I was using more chemically based products in my private skin care practice and day spa. It always felt out of alignment with my personal philosophy. The natural and organic brands I had tried just didn't meet my expectations. So I began experimenting with mixing and blending things in my facial room, just for my own personal clients initially. Then the 2008 crash came. My day spa closed, I lost my home, and my clientele was now almost nothing. I was trying to fi gure out what to do next and a very dear, longtime client said to me, "You've been talking about launching your own brand since I met you—maybe now is the time?" So, I started it in my kitchen with an initial investment of less than $3,000. Q. Any exciting news or new products on the horizon you'd like to share? A. We are offi cially celebrating our 10-year anniversary this year! Before COVID, I had planned a series of facial instruction videos for each of our protocols, a new brochure, additional colors of our award- winning tinted SPF, I was working with a new lab to take over production and reformulating our products in the process, and I was going to buy an RV and travel to our diff erent spas to do events and classes. All of that got put on hold. All those things are now in process again: I just bought the RV and am ready to get on the road for the Dawn Lorraine Skincare Road Tour! printer. I was honestly surprised by how much people loved the products. I also had struggled for most of my adult life with cystic acne. It didn't really clear up until I was exclusively using the products I mixed and blended myself. Q. What should estheticians know about your products? A. Our products are created with estheticians in mind. By an esthetician, for estheticians. I've worked hard to create a brand that meets the needs of every client and skin condition, and is luxurious, smells amazing, and gets results.
