This aspect of a beauty coaching plan takes about 15–20 minutes and can be a big draw for those who want to start fresh. The client should bring a bag containing all the products she currently uses on her face: cleanser, makeup, skin care products, soap, sunblock, everything. Educate the client on how each item can be incorporated into her new home-care routine, or why it should not be used. Bring over a trash can for items that she agrees can go. Educate her on shelf life and product contamination, and, with her permission, throw out anything that is more than a year old. Suggest multipurpose items to take the place of more than one product. The client will go home with a good start on her wish list, and with a streamlined and freshened "wardrobe" of products. Step 5: out the door No matter what treatment was performed, always find a way to make clients look great when they walk out the door. For both men and women, this can include tidying up brows (or other facial hair) and moisturizing. For women, finish every service with light makeup. Never point out problems, or try to change clients so drastically that they don't recognize themselves, but encourage and ask questions. Every face has at least one beautiful feature, so mention it and give compliments. Show the client how to bring it out. There are so many ways to position yourself as a beauty coach. If you can win over clients with your skill, knowledge, and a willingness to help, you will empower them to make the changes they want, while they rely on your expertise to fulfill their every skin care wish.
