www.ascpskincare.com 75 After going through her ordeal, White is an ASCP devotee now. "ASCP is an amazing association with amazing insurance and I wouldn't go with anybody else. I especially love getting the magazine! It's so helpful and useful. But you have to have insurance!" Hearing rave reviews like White's is a source of pride for Higdon. "I enjoy the satisfaction of knowing I helped somebody through a really difficult situation." STRONGER NOW White Lily Day Spa opened in a new location about six months after the fire. Looking back, White calls the fire "a blessing." "There was a plus to this negative," she says, because her business is thriving and she even has four women working there now. "In this new place, I made every person purchase their own insurance," she says. "If you have renters, do yourself a favor and make them responsible for their things." She tells others about her experience and says, "Don't ever give up hope. You can make it through this. But be responsible. You must have insurance." ASCP Business Personal Property Insurance Contents Coverage for Your Business ASCP membership includes $6 million in total liability coverage or $2 million per occurrence for losses due to general slip and fall, product reactions, and client injury. It does not cover loss of business property. To answer this need, the optional ASCP Business Personal Property (BPP) contents coverage add- on insures personal property that's necessary as part of an esthetics practice, including facial systems, steamers, hot towel cabinets, etc. BPP coverage is only available to ASCP Professional members. • $95 per year includes $10,000 Business Equipment Insurance ($250 deductible) • $250 per year includes $25,000 Business Equipment Insurance ($250 deductible) For a full explanation of BPP coverage, please contact a membership specialist at 800-789-0411 or visit www.ascpskincare.com/bpp. Set Yourself Up for Success • Protect your professional valuables with ASCP Business Personal Property (BPP) contents coverage, as an optional add-on to your professional membership. • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of your business property. For each item, note the manufacturer, purchase date, quantity of product (if applicable), trade name, model and serial numbers, initial purchase price, and estimated year-to-date value. • Photograph all inventory items, including model and serial numbers, whenever possible, and keep those images safely stored. Quality color photographs are important because they represent the true quality, appearance, and size of your items. • Retain sales receipts and/or credit card statements for your business property. Keep those receipts/statements safely stored. • If you have expensive items that don't have model/serial numbers, consider having your phone number engraved on them in case of theft. • If you're retaining hard copies, make sure you have two sets that are stored in separate locations for safety. If a loss occurs, make sure you immediately photograph your business premises, and promptly report theft or damage to the police. Then, fill out the appropriate ASCP claim form, attach your police report (if applicable) and inventory documentation to support your claim of loss, and promptly send your claim to ASCP Risk Management, who will immediately submit the claim to the insurance carrier.
