She was getting agitated because I kept throwing the waxing sticks away. While I attempted to figure out why she was so upset, she snatched the next applicator out of my hand and attempted to put it back in the pot! Luckily, I caught it before it got to the pot, but she very aggressively told me, "In my country, do this!" I had to almost laugh, and responded, "In my country, we do NOT do this!" I spent the rest of the time attempting to explain why we don't do that. Shannon Conklin, via Facebook About three years ago, client asked me if I felt any connection to Native American culture or items. I didn't think much of the question and said, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I love turquoise and dream catchers." She then told me that during her facial, I subliminally told her that she had to tell me I was a chief in my past life named Joseph Campbell, and I was responsible for leading my people away from danger. She then told me I told her (subliminally again) that it wasn't my first past life; I was a chief in another life as well. It was interesting, and, to this day, makes me wonder! SkyLee Edmiston, via email I had a young woman come to her facial appointment with a crow in a cage. She asked if she could leave it in the room during her treatment. Since I was in school at the time, I checked with my instructor who said no due to hygienic reasons. She then went outside and put the caged crow in her car. It was pretty warm outside at the time and I felt so bad for that bird. It was all very strange and surreal. Kay Manekas Cassidy, via Facebook I had a big, tough- looking guy, with a face full of (100+) blackheads, dragged into our spa by his girlfriend desperate for him to get extractions. I found it humorous that he was terrified of my tiny extractor tool. He stayed on his cell phone the entire time, and I didn't ask questions about his business. Julie Flesner, via Facebook Answer our next question: How do you manage clients who have unrealistic expectations? Email your answer to editor@ascpskincare.com. Your answer could appear in the September/October 2017 issue and may be edited for length and clarity. I had a client who wanted character makeup. I asked her for a photo. She whipped out her phone and showed me a picture of a cartoon. One of a bazillion reasons I love skin care and hate doing makeup. Lajolie Bonbon, via Facebook » »
