Have you ever felt like you were losing passion for your career? Does it feel like you do the same thing over and over again day after day? When was the last time you stepped out of the box and changed things up? After 29 years in the esthetics industry, I feel like it's extremely important to step out of the box now and then. Actually, no matter what your career is, changing things up keeps life exciting. Trying something new or different keeps us passionate, and one thing I know for sure is that passion means success. I purchased my first skincare business in 1990. I had only been a licensed Esthetician for one and a half years. I realize now that all I really had to use for success back then was my passion. I certainly didn't have a lot of experience. I barely knew how to be a good Esthetician, let alone a good business owner. But, I succeeded. I built a very successful business because I had a tremendous amount of passion for what I was doing. Fifteen years later I began to lose that passion, so it was time to step out of the box, time to change things up. I sold that business and began mentoring other Estheticians. Helping them start or grow their skincare businesses. I could feel the passion ignite and now Shelley Hancock Consulting is a thriving business. It's an incredible feeling to receive an email from someone telling me that they are succeeding because of some little thing I've shared with them, some little thing I learned along the way and passed along to them. I do a weekly radio show on Voice America as well as one-on-one mentoring. I get to reach Estheticians worldwide with this show and what a joy that is! It's now been 11 years since I made that change and I feel that itch again. I'm ready to do some stepping out. I've decided to change things up by traveling around the United States in 2017 doing my "Shelley's Show & Tell" workshop. I'm not a big fan of trade shows; I'd rather be in front of a small group that I can really connect with. I want to share my passion for this industry with as many Estheticians as I can! I've always wanted to write a book and this year I will be published in an anthology book called Outstanding Results. Successful professionals from numerous different industries share their words of wisdom about how they obtained success. I am so proud to be a part of this book. So, why am I sharing my career changes with you? In hopes that you will see that change can be a good thing and not something to be afraid of. We can sometimes get stuck in the familiar, the safe, and then we lose our drive. Trust me on this one, losing passion is not good for business. Step out. Be bold. Ignite your passion.
