36 november/december 2016 2. Needless to say, you must have confidence in your products and their effectiveness. Ask your product supplier to provide you with case study photos (and then make your own with your clients' written permission). 3. Be sure to provide written, step-by-step home-care instructions and suggest clients tape this list to the inside of their bathroom cabinet for quick reference. For clients who are new to a skin care regimen, consider labeling their products with big numbers so the order of use is clear. 4. Assure the client that the program should only take 3–5 minutes in the morning and evening. Politely ask the client if they feel comfortable dedicating 3–5 minutes twice a day. Getting the client to verbally promise really does make a difference in compliance! 5. Products with easy-open caps, pumps, and sprayers are better choices because they don't require the client to twist open a jar or bottle. This may sound silly, but it is part of making the process as quick and easy as possible. 6. Tell clients to perform their nighttime care earlier in the evening before they are tired. That way, they are less likely to stumble into bed without taking care of their skin. 7. Check with your clients at every salon visit to make sure they don't have home-care questions. Brag on their improvements! It's a good idea to take pictures of their issue areas on the first visit, and then take new pictures after 2–3 months of treatment to highlight the changes. Skin appearance changes are so gradual that the client may not notice them. 8. To build compliance for salon treatments, offer the client a prepaid package of 6–12 treatments with an irresistible discount. Have the client schedule as far in advance as possible. There should be a written agreement with treatment interval recommendations that includes an expiration date for the treatments and recognition of your no-show and cancellation policy. Happy clients become loyal clients. When you care about your clients and check on their progress, make their care program as easy as possible to follow, and recommend user-friendly, effective products as a system, your clients will be thrilled with their results. Once a client has substantial skin care results, they will be your client forever! Be sure to provide written, step-by- step home-care instructions and suggest clients tape this list to the inside of their bathroom cabinet for quick reference. expertadvice SKIN SOLUTIONS
