www.ascpskincare.com 13 beautybuzz INDUSTRY NEWS Pretty Pastels Pantone, the renowned authority on color and provider of color systems, recently announced its annual colors of the year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. We think these two colors couldn't be better suited for new makeup. Rose Quartz, a soft, muted pink (think lips and cheeks), and Serenity, a muted gray-blue (think eyelids and even lashes), are bound to inspire perfectly pretty shades, just in time for spring. » Images courtesy Sephora and Pantone Universe Color of the Year 2016 collection. No More Microbeads Get ready for big changes in skin care products. As one of his last acts of 2015, President Obama signed a bill that bans an ingredient so common that nearly every American home has a product that includes it—plastic microbeads. Found in body washes, facial scrubs, and soaps that serve as skin exfoliants, these tiny beads do not break down as they wash down the drain and end up polluting waterways. Many companies have already begun the process of replacing plastic microbeads with natural, biodegradable ingredients such as apricot seeds, powdered pecan shells, and rice.
