I am lucky to be blessed with genetically good skin. Like my mother's and grandmother's, it's pretty darn smooth, even though I am of an age where a few lines would be perfectly acceptable. That's not to say I am complacent when it comes to my skin care regimen. I wear sunscreen every day and use quality products. But I must admit I don't see an esthetician on a regular basis. Facials and skin care treatments have always been special treats for me— something I do to celebrate a big occasion or to make myself feel better on a bad day. You'll be happy to hear that your new ASCP Skin Deep editor is ready to change her ways. Between reading back issues of ASCP Skin Deep in preparation for this new gig and accepting the fact that I am of that, ahem, certain age, I fully understand it's time to get serious about fi nding a local skin care professional (who is an ASCP member, of course) and scheduling regular appointments. Speaking of appointments, how are yours? Is your calendar fi lled for the next few months? If things aren't as busy as you'd like, we offer two articles in this issue that are loaded with unique tips and practical advice for fi lling those time slots: In "A Cure for the Summertime Blues," Felicia Brown offers ways to take advantage of downtime to clean house and invigorate your client list, and Patti Biro shares her thoughts on how to freshen up your offerings in "What's on Your Menu?" And these are just the beginnings of the valuable information in this jam-packed issue. It is an honor to take the editorial helm of ASCP Skin Deep. I can't wait to meet you at industry shows, via email (yes, please write to me at mabel@ascpskincare.com), and through this incredible association. Cheers, Mary Barthelme Abel Pleased to Meet You!
