Here at Associated Skin Care
Professionals (ASCP), one of the
things we hear over and over again
from estheticians is how much you
love your work. It's a profession
most people join because they
truly enjoy helping others, and they
fi nd real joy in seeing the visible
results of their expertise.
At the same time, however, many estheticians dislike selling retail
products to their clients. There is a common fear of coming across as
pushy or money-hungry when making recommendations for home
care. But think about what this fear implies: do you believe you're only
recommending a product because you want the client's money? Of
course not! You know which home-care regimen would be benefi cial to
the client's skin care goals, and you know she will get better results if she
takes your advice. You would love to see her succeed!
When you have confi dence in your own advice, you worry much less
about the risk that someone will think you're just pushing for a sale.
We have several articles in this issue to help you with ideas for
improving your retail sales, but the most important thing is to
understand the value of your own knowledge. The client already sees you
as an expert—why else would she come to your treatment room?
Make the most of that trust, and use your knowledge to help her get
results that both of you will love.
Love What You Do
