They can also serve as a great reminder of the wonderful community you are part of. Maybe you were itching to get to a trade show your fi rst day of school. Or maybe you're still unsure if they'll benefi t you. No matter where you are in your esthetics journey, it's a good idea to understand the basics before you hit up your fi rst trade show as a professional. Your fi rst show can be an investment—not to mention a bit nerve-wracking. But if you prepare in advance, stay on task, and know your costs, you'll make the most of your trip. Following are a few tips to have an amazing trade-show experience. CHOOSE YOUR SHOW Write down what your priorities are going to be and what outcomes you're looking to achieve. Then, research, research, research. If you plan to attend more than one show this year, check the dates and locations of the shows. Most have websites that post information well in advance, so make sure dates don't overlap or fall during a time that's inconvenient for you. Finally, make sure the show is for professionals only. KNOW YOUR COSTS Depending on the show and the location, you can expect to pay anything from $0 to $900. Consider if you want a fl oor pass, which can be around $250, and look to see how much you'll need to invest in education. And of course, don't forget to budget in money for purchasing products at the show. TAKE CARE OF TRAVEL ASAP If you plan and purchase in advance, you'll save money. Trade shows normally off er early bird discounts, so take advantage of those.
