60 ASCP Skin Deep September/October 2021 This body treatment combines peppermint oil with sustainably harvested seaweed to create a stimulating, invigorating thalassotherapy spa experience without the need for a hydrotherapy tub or shower. Step 1. Prepare Wrap: Combine 1 ounce Repêchage Seaweed Bath, 10 drops Essential Oil of Peppermint (for the first treatment, you may add less essential oil and work up to the 10 drops), and 2 liters water in a hydroculator or slow cooker. Soak cloth compressive bandages in this solution for at least 20 minutes. Remove bandages from the hydroculator and transfer to a bowl. Step 2. Measure: With the client standing up, measure the waist, hip, thigh, and knee and record dimensions in the client's chart. Ideally, this treatment should be administered at least once a week for six weeks. At the end of the treatment series, review the changes in the measurements with the clients so they can see the measurable reduction. Step 3. Dry Brush: Dry brush with Repêchage Vegan Body Exfoliating Brushes to gently exfoliate the skin and stimulate circulation. In a circular motion, gently brush the front and back of the stomach area from the right side to the left side. Move downward and gently brush the thigh area on the left side down to the knee, then the right side. Step 4. Wrap: Begin wrapping around the thigh and buttocks area with moistened bandages, moving upward to the hips and waist. Stretch the bandages to create a mild compression and overlap the bandages by ¼ inch. Wrap the area with Mylar strips. Help the client lie down, face up, on the prepared facial bed and begin wrapping each leg with moistened compression bandages, starting from the thigh and moving toward the foot. Wrap each leg with Mylar strips. When done, cover the client with a Mylar sheet to ensure a thermal effect, leaving the arms outside the cover. Wrap the arms from wrist to shoulder with moistened bandages, and then wrap in Mylar strips. When complete, cover the client with a wool blanket to retain the heat.
