Advertisement Business Basics with Shelley Hancock Let's talk business basics. How are you showing up for business? Are you running in at the last minute and frazzled when your client arrives? Do you run behind causing your clients to wait for you? Do you bring your personal problems with you into the treatment room? Do you follow through with answers to questions for your clients or do you drop the ball? Are you well groomed or is your style disheveled and messy? How's your skin look? Do you represent this industry well? In other words…do you walk the walk? Here's what prompted me to write about this subject. I team up quite often with one of the loveliest women in our industry, Lisa from Skin Script. She's the product guru and I'm the tool time gal! The workshops are free and we even serve you lunch! Yes … we are showing you things that we sell, but we spend much of the time just sharing industry information, things that have worked to help build our skincare businesses and also fun tricks of the trade. We take registrations way over the amount that the room can hold. Why? We always have a no show rate of 35% or more. That's just appalling to me. I wonder how these "no show" Estys are not showing up in their own businesses or what type of employees they are. Do they treat their clients as nonchalantly as they do their commitment to the education they've registered for? Some Estys will call or email to let us know they won't be attending and we really do appreciate getting that heads-up. I have to say though that percentage is extremely low. There is a saying "Be impeccable with your word". Can your clients count on your word? Do you follow through with things you've said you would do for them? Do you complete the things that you've told yourself you would do to create or grow your business? I truly believe that keeping your word is one of the most important aspects of running any successful business. Take a moment and check in to see where you may not be showing up fully in your career. There could be just one little thing you can tweak and it ends up making all the difference in the world to how successful you are with your esthetic business. Challenge yourself and see how things change! Shelley Hancock Consulting Helping You Transform Your Skin Care Business www.shelleyhancock.com (650) 610-0619 SkinDeep_JA_2013.indd 32 5/15/13 4:25 PM
