Check how Google Maps has your address listed, then use that identical format on your website and everywhere else your address appears online, including business directories, review sites, and social media pages. Finally, make sure it is included with your other contact details on every page of your website. Add Pages About Your Specialties Starting from Square One This article assumes you already have a website and have already followed the basic steps for search engine optimization (SEO). If you're starting from scratch, try these steps first: • et up a free website for your S business by logging in to the Members section at www.ascpskincare.com and clicking on "Create or Edit Your Website." The ASCP Website Builder will walk you through a quick and easy process to create a beautiful, professional website with prewritten content. No special knowledge or experience is required. • hen you have your website up and W running, look under the Business Tools menu in the Members section of www.ascpskincare.com and follow the steps in the "Website Optimization Guide." • ead "Optimizing Your Website" R (ASCP Skin Deep, January/February 2012, page 27) for more about SEO. What words would a potential client type into a search engine when looking for the services or products you provide? You should already be using those keywords in your meta tags and title tags (read the resources listed in the sidebar for more information), but they should also be an important part of the written content on your website. GG Skin Therapy targets those searching for acne treatments in Albuquerque, so Goodman added a page just about this topic (www.gg.skincaretherapy.net/acne-treatments). The words acne treatments and Albuquerque are used multiple times throughout the page, but not in an overstuffed or robotic way; a potential client reading this page will learn a lot about acne and the treatments available for it, see before-and-after photos, and even be able to watch a short video. This is a valuable page for clients, as well as search engines. To do even more with this page, a written testimonial could be added beneath the before-and-after photos, preferably including the words acne treatment and Albuquerque. Finally, a hidden maximizer is to include your keywords in the file names of the photos on the page. The client does not see these file names, but search engines do. Make a new page on your website about each topic you target or each service you really want to promote. The ASCP Website Builder allows you to add unlimited custom pages at no additional cost. Make Booking Easy What's the best way for clients to book appointments? The right answer is "however they want to." Some clients prefer phone calls, while others prefer emails, text messages, or online booking. Provide as many options as possible, and make sure they are visible on every page of your website. GG Skin Therapy already had email, phone, and text options available, so Goodman expanded this by adding an online-booking system to the website. There are many different options available (Full Slate is one that provides a discount to ASCP members); Goodman chose the Bookfresh system. From an optimization viewpoint, most online-booking systems have the extra advantage of essentially being a second website that is seamlessly linked to your own. Another hidden maximizer is the ability to use the automated emails that come with many systems, asking clients to leave a review if they enjoyed their treatment. Use Client Reviews If two businesses are equal in other ways, but one of them has more online reviews, that business will do better in the search results. It will be more attractive to clients, too, assuming plenty of the reviews are positive. 28ASCP Skin Deep SkinDeep_JA_2013.indd 28 July/August 2013 5/15/13 4:24 PM
