60 ascp skin deep march/april 2020 Turnover at JMarie Skin Studio is low, which Jessica attributes to thoughtful hiring practices that result in close connections between people who share the same moral compass and values, such as being charitable. "We provide our clients with great collaborative care and our community with wonderful opportunities to pamper and care for themselves at no charge." PAYING IT FORWARD JMarie Skin Studio has been profitable and completely self-funded since the day it opened. Jessica believes her success stems from her anti-competition philosophy. "We support our competitors. We have a mentality that there is plenty of business to go around," she says. "We spend a lot of time helping train other spas in town and inviting them to some of our training classes and events. Ultimately, if we are all doing great work and providing high quality services, then it serves us all." JMarie Skin Studio contributes to various community events, charity events, nonprofit organizations, schools, and members of the community. One example is sponsoring the Venus de Miles, Colorado's largest women's bike ride that raises money for Greenhouse Scholars—a group of leaders who have overcome unimaginable challenges in their young lives, such as homelessness, violence, loss, and more. "We also provide free mini facials at the finish line for all the riders," Jessica says. Other inspiring philanthropic efforts include supporting local nonprofits with free facials, makeup services, and B12 shots; donating services, gift baskets, and even office space to local charities (The Safe House, Boulder Film Festival, Skyline High School, Niwot High School, Longmont High School, and Firehouse Art District are just a few); and sponsoring many charitable events with cold, hard cash. Jessica's true passion project, though, is giving away free areola pigmentation services to breast cancer survivors. "We give away a free $600 treatment each month," Jessica says. "We take great pride in giving members of our community a little TLC." JMarie Skin Studio, with two locations in Longmont, Colorado, boasts serene vibes with a touch of glam. Services range from facials and body treatments to injectables and nutritional IV therapy.
