We talked with Eichner, who shared some insights about L + A. What was the genesis of Lipgloss + Aftershave? While doing PR and marketing for several national skin care brands, we met a lot of bloggers who didn't really understand the professional skin care industry or the advanced ingredients in many of the products we love. Lipgloss + Aftershave came to life out of a serious level of frustration with the lack of professional skin care experience among these bloggers. In one instance, we had to educate a blogger so they could write properly about the brand. It was in that moment that I blurted out, "We should be doing this! Let's start our own blog!" Jenni then challenged me to create a name that was indicative of both of our personalities. I listed beauty products that were only good for "boys" and only good for "girls." I circled "lipgloss" in the boy's column and "aftershave" in the girl's column and Lipgloss + Aftershave was born. L + A hasn't been around that long, but you've quickly become a well-known name. Any secrets you can share with our esty members about how to make a big splash? We hear this a lot actually. First, we love what we do and have a blast doing it. The most common feedback we receive from our readers is that they love what we create. Throughout the past few years we focused on networking—collaboration is the new competition. We wanted to find a way to reach as many professionals as we could in the industry, so we looked to create partnerships with The Skin Games, IECSC, Face & Body Spa Expo and Conference, NASNPRO, SpaHive, and Spa Industry Association, as well as with magazines like American Spa, Dermascope, and ASCP Skin Deep. We create content for many of these organizations to share with their community, and we share content from our partner organizations with our community to create one big happy family. ASCP Influencers honors and promotes the experts, product manufacturers, and educators who shape our profession. Care to share any beauty trend predictions for 2020? CBD is growing like a weed! Pun very much intended. It's literally everywhere, and we couldn't be happier. More brands are adding CBD products and there are new CBD companies coming to market. CBD is going to be on the scene in skin care, body care, and ingestibles to help raise the part wellness plays in our industry. We're also seeing more and more brands add probiotic products to their collections. The science of skin care is showing that maintaining healthy skin starts with a strong and healthy lipid barrier. And finally, we are thrilled to see more brand collaboration— brands joining forces to grow together. Circadia with Hydrafacial. WELL CBD with Circadia. NeurotriS and XO8, who showcase their products together at many trade shows. MYSKINBUDDY and Hale & Hush have created protocols for clients to use, and Rezenerate is an amazing example, as the NANO technology works brilliantly with so many skin care brands.
