One potential alternative is a cream formulated with propolis, tea tree oil, and aloe vera (PTAC), which was shown to effectively reduce acne scars, erythema, and lesions, according to the findings of a recent study. In the study, PTAC was found to reduce erythema scars and speed healing time, which was seen as early as the first 15 days of treatment. Participants treated with PTAC experienced significant reductions in acne severity index and total lesion count compared with those treated with erythromycin cream. "Further studies are highly recommended using larger numbers of patients with a more extended experimental period," concluded the researchers.
